About Rethink Breast Cancer Canada
1. Metastatic breast cancer program – provide patient education resources and support for young people with metastatic breast cancer. Engages the broader breast cancer community and public in education and awareness campaigns to increase understanding and involvement in metastatic issues. 2. Rethink Real Talk patient education program – educate and empowers the community through variety of content formats—documentaries videos live-stream interviews or speaker panels with healthcare professionals blog posts including articles infographics patient stories and interviews. The program provides important information advice and tips on facing breast cancer from experts and people who have experienced it. 3. Rethink Breast Cancer Network – online and live resource for people with breast cancer to connect ask questions and seek or provide peer-to-peer support. 2 000 members. Members are periodically given advocacy opportunities through this Network. 4. Virtual Support Group – Hosted weekly for young people with breast cancer. Sessions are facilitated by a trauma-informed professional with a Master of Social Work and help participants unpack and cope with feelings they experience with a breast cancer diagnosis. Rethink hosts an average of 80 each year. 5. Improving Patient Outcomes Advocacy program – brings the patient voice and values to conversations and interactions with decision makers to improve access to treatment and care. While focused on health system change the program empowers breast cancer patients to self-advocate and actively participate in treatment planning. 6. Research Program – Rethink collaborates with many leading breast cancer researchers across Canada provide letters of support and act as a patient perspective advisor on grants such as the Reducing the bUrden of Breast cancer in Young women (RUBY) Study and promoting opportunities for the community to participate in clinical trials.
