About Regina Transition House Inc.
We provide a 24 hour safe shelter program for women and children fleeing violence and abuse. We provide 24 hour support counselling to residing clients and their children as well as to the public via telephone. We provide referral services to community resources advocacy and support services. We assist in the search for affordable housing. We provide outreach and child counselling programs. We provide public education in the community on the topic of domestic violence. We provide training and education opportunities to post-secondary students through practicum placement. We offer an Addictions Support Program created to support women in shelter and within our outreach programs who are struggling with substance misuse or are working on maintaining recovery from a substance use disorder. Trauma is often associated with substance misuse and addiction. All of our clients are survivors of violence and abuse and working to cope with their own experiences of trauma. We offer an Emergent Outreach program to support women prior to coming into shelter including safety planning referrals advocacy and food security. Ideally clients may be supported to the extent where they bypass the need to access emergency shelter. In order to not force women to choose between keeping themselves safe and abandoning their pets we offer two pet-friendly off-site shelter spaces. Families staying in these spaces receive the full counselling advocacy and support services that in-house clients receive.
