About Refugee Career Jumpstart Project

Our first activity is to provide employment related services to newly settled refugees in Canada to accelerate their career preparedness and access to meaningful employment economic opportunities for the purpose of helping to alleviate poverty in the refugee community. Beneficiaries will be selected by their refugee status and level of economic need. There will be no fees charged to any of our beneficiaries. The organization will meet this goal through three steps: The first step is the intaking of refugees via a comprehensive assessment of their career-readiness using a Salesforce CRM-integrated online form combined with individualized intake interviews to create an economic profile for each client to determine their needs. We seek to determine the medium to long-term employment goals refugees have their prior work experience and other factors which are relevant to their employment outcomes. With this profile created we will be able to deliver unique services and solutions for each client that will effectively help to find them meaningful employment to relieve their economic situation. The second step is to work with the refugees to accelerate their career readiness through targeted services including: foreign credential recognition resume building skills training workshops and industry mentorship. These services will help ensure they can leverage their experiences and skills to help them succeed in finding employment. The third step is to help provide access to meaningful employment. Once clients are career-ready they become part of our talent pool. From there clients are continually referred directly to partner employers who have meaningful employment opportunities and want to recruit refugees.
