Rabbit rescue's (rrs) largest focus is taking in and saving rabbits. Working with shelters and individual owners rr spays neuters and vaccinates all rabbits upon arrival and provides treatment for all medical concerns. With shelters in crisis due to extremely high numbers of surrendered animals rr focused on pulling rabbits from shelters and taking in dumped rabbits when shelters were full. We offered assistance to owners by having them 'foster' their own rabbits until permanent homes could be found. Rr strives to educate individuals on responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals particularly rabbits and other small domestic animals. The primary objective of these efforts is to help people make educated choices before they adopt as well as provide sound advice for current pets. Adoption and animal care information is provided to shelters educational institutions and stores. In person fundraisers and educational events continued this past year. Online fundraisers and educational information have continued to be successfully implemented. Rr has a strong social media presence and provides additional information on care spreading awareness adn encourages fostering adopting and other topics. Rr has become a primary resource for questions relating to rabbits in canada and worldwide. A google group provides a means to coordinate transportation and emergency response activities amongst volunteers and to help share proper care information and support shelters and rescues continue to deal with the fall out of the covid pandemic where pet ownership went up and then as the world returned back to normal an increase in animals were surrendered. Shelters have remained continuously over crowded and they are often unable to take in the dumped rabbits that are being caught (which also leads to more dumping when owners can not surrender their rabbits to shelters or rescures).
