Pumphouse Theatres Society

The pumphouse theatres society uses a designated heritage building to provide subsidized rental space to the community emerging and young professional theatre companies which might otherwise not be able to afford comparable space. The society also runs annual drama day camps during the spring breaks and the summer as well as providing ongoing theatrical training programs and courses for youth in order to assist the development of the next generation of theatre professionals. We also co-produce festival programming including the calgary region one-act-play festival. Staff are active members of anumber of volunteer organizations and professional organizations and the society engages the services of volunteer organizations to assist in the running of our festival programming. The society is in the process of developing additional drama camps/classes in association with community groups. In response to covid19 we also developed online education programming which we are planning on growing into regular programming. In addition to our long running calgary region one-act play festival we have also launched the calgary clownfestival and have become a co-producer of the common ground festival for emerging artists. These new programs will continueour commitment to supporting showcase opportunities and training opportunties for early to mid-stage artists. These three events will create a festival style season of productions in addition to our youth education programs and low cost rentals allow usto continue our commitment to supporting local artists and the communities they live in.
