Plast Ukrainian Youth Association of Ontario Toronto Branch

Plast is a ukrainian scouting organization that encourages its members to fulfil their potential acquire leadership skills & learn to work co-operatively. The aim of plast is to guide youth to be competent responsible & valuable citizens of local national & world communities. Plast uses proven tools of self-development following the principles of the scouting movement. Weekly meetings are held throughout the school year for two ages groups of boys & girls ages 6 to 11 & 12 to 17. 2 week camps for childern age 6-11 are held every summer at our camp facility.separate 7-10 day camps are also organized for the members of the 12 to 17 year old age group at various locations in ontario. The focus of these camps can be camping hiking canoeing & cycling. The older members of this age group assist in the planning of these camps in order to develop their planning & leadership skills. Counsellor training workshops are held to prepare teenaged members to become volunteer group leaders and counsellors for the younger age group. They are also encouraged to perform volunteer work in the community. Our adult members volunteer as program leaders and camp directors mentors tp youth volunteers and group leaders and counsellors for the 12-17 year old youths throughout the year. Altogether there are about 90 volunteer counsellors ranging in age from 15 to 60. Our programs and activities are also supported by parent volunteers.
