Programs in service of improving the lives people who are homeless sex workers people eho use drugs people who experience systemic criminalization affected by poverty and social exclusion by develop solution to complex human rights issues through advocacy litigation community research and public legal education. Pivot’s 5 programs: 1. Housing and homelessness: the overall objective of our housing program is to end the criminalization of and discrimination against unhoused and inadequately housed people by challenging laws and practices that violate human rights and constitutional law. 2. Policing and criminalization accountability: our policing program’s overall objective is to fight the policing and criminalization of equity denied communities by supporting individuals and groups who have been impacted by overpricing police discrimination and misuse of force 3. Sex workers’ rights: this program has a long history of working towards the decriminalization of sex work and towards the human rights and dignity of sex workers; especially those marginalized by race and social condition 4. Drug policy: fight the criminalization of drug use that has led to thousands of preventable overdose deaths 5. Anti-stigma: this work unites our other program areas and was foregrounded by our comprehensive 2019 report project inclusion which identified stigma as a driver of legal and other harms
