About Pathways Adventure & Challenge Camping Society (paccs)

Outreach intervention counselling mentoring life and essential work skills training for youth at risk who face societal challenges due to their physical or psychological needs and/or their own or their families difficult and challenging economic and/or social circumstances. This programming is provided by way of experiential base structure learning programs and activities in the supervised setting of a summer residential camp. In 2024 our Charity introduced a new Camper-ship Grant programme. The purpose of this Camper-ship Grant program is to provide grants to other Camping Association of NS & PEI Accredited Camps in Nova Scotia and PEI for funding for those other Accredited Camps to bring children and teens from low income families to one of their overnight summer campings sessions at no cost or a reduced cost. In order to receive a Grant the Other Accredited Camps must make a detailed online Grant Application. In the Grant application they must also identify the process by which they select low income families to qualify to receive the Camper-ship Grant. In addition we also mentor those other Accredited Camps to use our Charity's selection process to help them qualify children from low income families to receive the Camper-ship Grant such as using the GOC LICO Household Income brackets and working with the Provincial Department of Community Services as well as School Guidance Counsellors. Once their Grant Application is approved by our Board the other Accredited Camp must submit a Final Report at the end of their summer camping detailing the number of children from low income families that did receive the Camper-ship Grant in order to receive their Camp's Grant payment.
