Parc Memorial Weir Inc

The charity operates weir memorial park for the benefit of the public in the memory of hon. R.s. Weir who wrote the english lyrics of o canada & in memory of his 2 sons & all local residents who perished in the world wars in service of their country. The park operates as the only public access to lake memphremagog for the residents of the communities of ogden stanstead stanstead east & canton de stanstead. Activities such as swimming boating picnics & playgrounds are free. Resources such as lifeguard changing rooms bathrooms showers & parking are free. Banquets camping programs & canteen services are provided at going rates. Environmental stewardship resources & programs for the public is the charity's mandate using park's resources. Last year the park completed upgrades to the septic system and 2 camp sites. Also it installed new benches along the shoreline and an access ramp to the beach. In 2025 the park will be open for day use and will offer its pilates yoga thai chi stretching & strengthing programs offered in conjunction with the municipalities of ogden & stanstead. Patrons have requested that we create a shaded picnic area close to the beach. The park initiated that project in 2024 and will finish that project in 2025. Also the park will continue its landscaping tree & shrub planting projects. The park successfully contested a proposed 414% increase in its annual municipal taxes. The final increase was 40% which was in line with nearby shoreline residents. Now the park can once again re-instate a capital spending program that will focus on serving the needs of the public.
