Ballet BC is an internationally acclaimed collaborative and creation-based contemporary ballet company that is a leader and resource in the creation production and education of contemporary dance in Canada. The company's regular performance at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre (QET) in the fall winter and spring are supplemented by regional national and international tours. Through a host of public engagement activities Ballet BC shares a wealth of knowledge and expertise with the community - creating personal professional and accessible dance experiences for the broadest possible public. Community engagement programs include: Artist Salons Previews Studio Visits Pre-Show Chats Adult Dance Classes Student Dress Rehearsals and the Arts For All Program. Programs directed to the professional dance community include: Choreographic Workshops Professional Development Program Artist-in-Residence Program. Ballet BC Annex in collaboration with Arts Umbrella offers an invaluable opportunity for secondary school students to engage in world-class dance and educational programming. The Annex toured schools in Metro Vancouver and throughout BC bringing contemporary dance repertoire professional performances and workshops to young audiences with an interest in the arts Ballet BC recently moved into a new facility on Granville Island that provides year-round access to studios for rehearsals and opens the opportunity to share that space for rentals dance and movement classes and to have our junior company rehearse at the same time as our main company when needed. Through a new rental program Ballet BC is able to provide much needed studio space for local artists to develop productions including Kidd Pivot Dance Novella Inverso Productions Arts Umbrella and the Dance Centre Society.
