About Ottawa Power Wheelchair Hockey League (OPWHL)
The OPWHL is a wheelchair floor hockey league and provides a recreational and competitive wheelchair hockey program which also includes an important social component for people with disabilities. There are 3 recreational teams and 2 competitive team. Recreational league games and playoffs run from September to April/May. An annual Awards Banquet is held in June of each year and the competitive teams participate in yearly National and North American tournaments. There are currently 30 para-atheletes in the OPWHL and approximately 20 volunteers who are involved in weekly games. The OPWHL is very inclusive for all regardless of age disability gender or ethnic background. The only requirement is that person must use an electric wheelchair for mobility.
