One Straw Society provides the following charitable initiatives to further our purpose: (1) Sechelt Streetside Garden - a free-to-harvest urban community garden in Sechelt - empowers local elders unhoused and other community members to engage in grow learn with garden mentors and harvest food as needed. (2) One Tiny Farm - a free accessible community food hub and farm host to a community garden workshops events children's programs community kitchen tool library and foodbox program. (3) Foodbox Program - multi-farm collaboration to plan crops regionally have farms work and produce together and distribute harvests to paying customers and subsidized to people in need (together therefore removing stigma from emergency food provisioning and encouraging connections and inclusion.) (4) Education - year-round subsidized workshops on food literacy regenerative agriculture climate resiliency indigenous plant and food knowledge food waste management traditional food practices (5) Tool Library - a diverse collection of tools and specialized equipment for farm garden and food education and preservation (6) Seeds of Spring - annual series of free community events called 'Seedy Saturday' in the spring providing free seed exchanges workshops garden markets free soil analysis etc. (7) Children’s Garden - preschool and after-school programs in collaboration with local registered Childcare Society (8) Soup Stories - soup kitchen and inter-generational cooking program connecting elders to youth. Priority is to feed and connect people of different cultures ages and socio-economic backgrounds and to provide nutritious hot meals to all regardless of ability to pay. (9) Salmon Project - led by indigenous elders of the shíshálh Nation teaching other cultures about traditions preservation ceremony around village food.
