About Ogilvie Wooden Grain Elevator Society
Through our social media outlet the society informs the general public regarding the current state and future of historic buildings such as wooden grain elevators. Our goal is to preserve these monuments to the agricultural industry in order that younger and future generations may gain an appreciation of the history of this province. We also collaborate with similar groups and organizations in this endeavor such as those who restore other historic buildings and reopen them to the public. We believe that to know the history is to prepare for the future. We acknowledge the enormous struggles that have created iconic Canadian landmarks. Volunteers are the backbone of any charity and it has proven very challenging to recruit new people. Therefore no new programs have been instituted during the last fiscal year. It is our hope that people may once again enjoy the camaraderie of joining together with other like-minded people and work together toward a common goal. Sadly this seems to be severely lacking at this point in time. We have continued to use our social media outlet to share the progress or lack thereof of historic buildings.
