Nova Scotia Women?s History Society

The nova scotia women's history society researches and makes known the untold story of a remarkable contributions that women have made history ofd nova scotia ' a women of the waterfrom ' was the society's first project in 2017 a monument. The volunteers/ les bénévoles was erected on the halifax waterfront to honour the work of the thousands of women who volunteered their time and labour during wartime. An interpretive panel project was completed and readied for fabrication and installation in the year of 2024 and erected in a park at the corner of ford and robie streets in truro ns in the spring of 2025. The installation honours for generations of african nova scotian women who were prominent member of their community including trail blasers in education and the long-time organist for zion baptist church. The panel and their location are supported by the truro municipal council and mayor two councilors and the mayor attented the community celebration of the installation held on may 23 2025. As well a prroximatelyn 150 community members joined us to celebrate the new public history installation in their community. Program and partnershop development in december of 2024 the board of nova scotia women`s hsitory society with our past chairs help a -one day workshop led by horizons community development to develop procedure and regulations for our community fund. Bases on this workshop we elaborated our outreeach and partnership program that will support projects initiated by external groups that are aligned with our missions and values. The program will include evaluation of submissions tracking of progress and mentorshop of community public history project.
