Nova Scotia Community Transportation Network

USE A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT APPROACH TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND ENHANCEMENT OF COMMUNITY BASED TRANSPORTATION SERVICES. WORK CLOSELY WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE RURAL TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION TO HELP IMPROVE SERVICE. WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PROVINCIAL AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT TO EXAMINE SOME OF THE GAPS AND BARRIERS THAT IMPEDE THE PROGRESS OF ESTABLISHING A COMPREHENSIVE AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITY BASED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM. OVERSEE A PILOT PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MARITIME BUS. Support development of new community based services in Guysborough County. Produce and publish in both official languages a Rural Transportation Service Providers Manager's Toolkit. Continue to coordinate the design of and implementation of an integrated digital dispatch system to be available to all community based providers in Nova Scotia. Conduct a study on the feasiblity provision and use of electric vehicles in the fleets of community based transportation services. Manage a multi-year fixed route expansion project in partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia and four fixed route systems.
