North Shore Light Opera Society

Our society stages a yearly musical theatre production. This involves the board first selects which show we are going to produce. The board then selects a producer. The producer then selects musical and stage directors. The producer and directors hold autidions for the cast of the yearly show. The stagig of the show involves rehearsals set designing and building costume designing and building prop designing and building or aquiring stage managering and the actual show's production. We showed our mainstage production of gilbert and sullivan's 'pirates of penzance' at presentation house theatre from may 16 to 26 2023. Before that we had auditions rehearsals set production costume production. 9 number of board members 45 total number of society members 50 number of volunteers actively involved in the administration of the society its programming coordination etc) 6750 volunteer hours per year. For each category of volunteer i estimated the number of hours based on number and length of rehearsals and/or shows or meetings and multiplied by the number of that type of volunteer. Does not include any time spent by the individual practicing for show or board member doing individual work as these numbers might vary considerably
