About North Shore Celtic Ensemble

The nsce program activities include ensemble rehearsals musical retreats free community concerts and collaborations and ticketed performances. Students learn and rehearse with our professional artistic director and musical directors and on occasion with guest musicians. The emphasis is on mastery of the instrument and connecting with other players and the audience to create dynamic and memorable music experiences. The nsce provides a rich musical learning environment that is not available through the public school system. We have many volunteers with parent volunteers taking care of many of the logistics related to the general operation of the charity the tuition program and arranging and organizing performances in the community. Additional specialized services are occasionally provided by others as in kind contributions. The nsce undertakes national and international tours on a three year cycle. Our flagship performances this year are our winter concerts that take place on the north shore and nearby municipalities to over 600 people. We are expanding our reach to seniors homes throughout metro vancouver by offering free live videos from our ticketed winter concerts. We perform regularly to patients and families at the north shore hospice. The celtic ensemble co-develops (and often hosts) the west coast youth fiddle summit designs and hosts bi-annual retreats workshops with guest artists and summer camps and undertakes international and canadian tours. We provide engaging creative opportunities for youth to compose record and learn from professional musicians. New iniatives are taking place with an emphasis on therapeutic music instruction.
