North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance Society

To educate and increase the public's understanding of watershed protection and its importance by developing and providing programs on the protection and improvement of water quality water quantity and the health of the North Saskatchewan Watershed. To conduct research relating to the protection of the North Saskatchewan Watershed and disseminate such research results. The NSWA is renewing its assessment of the State of the Watershed last completed in 2005 as a public education tool and a way to focus overall management of the watershed on important issues. The NSWA continues to lead collaboration at a local level with three sub-watershed alliances including education and youth-focused programming. Continued collaboration with several academic programs that are investigating different aspects of aquatic ecosystem management. The NSWA launched a regional lake stewardship program in the last year to support lake-focused education and restoration efforts at a regional scale instead of one a lake-by-lake basis. NSWA is exploring ways to develop working relationships with Indigenous communities in the watershed. The NSWA is intending to upgrade the charity’s website so that it can be more inclusive and accessible of a broader diversity of people.
