The capitol centre is home to the betty speers theatre and the wkp kennedy gallery. As the cultural heart of north bay we offre patrons artists and community membres an environment that inspires creates and showcases performing and visual art forms. The capitol centre is committed to providing multi-disciplinary programming with the goal of generating a health and vibrant arts community. Each year we offer adversely programmed season with mainstream popular artist choices in addition to unique emerging performances as we attempt to bring the world stage to our northern ontario community. We strive to ensure events at the capitol centre are accessible and inclusive and offer an arts for all program that provides complimentary tickets to organizations within the community who may experience barriers to engaging with arts and culture. We focus on growing the creative culture in our community by engaging with local groups of varying demographics to instill an appreciation for the arts at all ages. We serve as the location for the north bay film festival and fringe festival as well as the north bay string school. Serving as an established cultural organization and community gathering space since 1929 the capitol centre drives performing and visual arts activity through the provisions of a fully equipped state of the arts facility staff expertise and leadership. We are not for profit that has been the home of the arts and entertainments for the last 35 years and are a designated municipal hearitage buidling. In 2023 we added new programming in the form of our next generation education series. The next generation education series is dedicated to inspiring youth using the performing arts with the intention of being more than a traditional field trip. All performances had currirulum connections and were supported with study guides. In it's first year just over 2000 students took part.
