New Westminster Public Library Board

In 2024 new westminster public library continued many of its core programs and services. This included a popular author talk series conversation circles writing consultations offered in partnership with simon fraser university and programs supporting community memebers in accessing and using ebooks. Ongoing partner programs also remained strong including those providing personal tax assistance and settlement services. The library maintained its commitment to showcasing local talent through curated art exhibits by community artists. For children and youth the library continued to offer storytimes babytimes reading buddies in both french and english. The library also participated in the reading link challenge a regional student reading competition. N 2024 the library expanded its programming to reflect the evolving interests and needs of the community. A major highlight was the return of its literary festival which grew to include new partnerships with local businesses. The library also introduced a climate film series in collaboration with a local climate action organization promoting awareness and community dialogue on environmental issues. A notable public art projject was completed featuring artwork on 19 concrete pillars of the library building. Additionally in respect to community needs the library developed a new tigrinya language collection in partnership with a local community service organization.
