Nelson Fine Arts Centre Society

The Oxygen Art Centre (Nelson Fine Arts Centre Society) offers contemporary art programming through the Exhibition & Residency program and the Education program. The Exhibition & Residency program hosts 2-3 artists-in-residence per year supporting regional and visiting artists in process-based experimentation in their practice. This program also hosts 3-4 exhibitions in the main gallery 9-10 exhibitions by emerging regional artists in the O2 window vitrine exhibition space an annual mural installation in the centre's bathroom and publishes exhibition catalogues and printed matter (online + digital) to accompany these project. The Education program provides adult youth and children's art education classes and intensives as well as community-focused art making events across two semesters. In addition Oxygen presents regular event series focusing on rural artistic professional development throughout the year. Oxygen Art Centre provides unique accessible contemporary art programming for the rural regional communities of the Columbia Basin in West Kootenay SouthEastern British Columbia. In 2024 Oxygen added new youth arts education programs including 'Lost Cat! ' a drop-in art making event series and 'Print & Paste ' a youth printmaking workshop.
