Nature Canada's mission is to protect and conserve wildlife habitats in Canada by engaging people and advocating on behalf of nature. The organization conducts conservation work which involves supporting community-based efforts to protect animals plants and habitats and also pushing for effective policies that protect endangered species encourage the development of networks of parks and protected areas across Canada conserve bird habitat and promote biodiversity in Canada abroad. In addition Nature Canada conducts educational programs that educate children and adults about the importance of nature and encourage nature enthusiasts to protect nature and the processes to sustain it. The Municipal Protected Area Program ('Engaging Municipalities to Protect and Conserve Local Greenspaces') aims to increase the share of protected areas in communities across southern Canada by raising awareness about the role of municipalities local governments (e.g. First Nations regional governments) and relevant agencies (e.g. watershed authorities) in contributing to Canada’s historic commitment to protect 30 percent of land freshwater and ocean by 2030 ('30x30'). Rights of Nature in Canada aims to develop and foster discussions around gaining rights for nature in Canada and build social support and awareness for the rights of nature among the public.
