About National Trust for Canada / Fiducie Nationale Du Canada

The National Trust for Canada works to empower communities in saving and renewing historic places that tell the story of Canada. We provide game-changing support to help keep useful older and heritage buildings out of landfill and increase the sustainability and impact of historic places that matter to Canadians. Thousands have accessed regeneration strategies and expertise through our annual national conference free webinars and Launch Pad donor-funded coaching grants – all under the banner of Regeneration Works. We market and encourage visitation to historic sites across the country under the banner of Historic Places Days – since 2020 featuring virtual as well as on-the-ground impact. Our network of Passport Places tell the stories of Canada better than any textbook - places as diverse as Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake AB the Colony of Avalon in Ferryland NF and the Seigneurial Mill of Les Éboulements in Les Éboulements QC. Our Endangered Places List - a powerful media tool - has been a catalyst for saving places like the Guild Inn (ON) and the St. Stephen Town Hall (NB). Our awards programs celebrate examples of heritage property rehabilitation and re-use; and through stewardship of properties held in trust. We advance education through the delivery of federal funding for youth employment in heritage organizations and by providing students emerging professionals and volunteers with assistance to attend our national conference or further their research.
