In 1983 the national association of women and the law charitable trust for research and education (nawl trust) was established to complement the national association of women and the law's advocacy work. The trust prepares and disseminates research and education regarding legal issues in all aspects of the social economic and political life of canadian women. It assists the protection of women's civil rights and liberties by charitable means as well as in the relief of poverty. Throughout the 2023-2024 the trust funded the ongoing work of updating public legal education materials including the free online feminist law reform 101 course the rightfully hers mini-documentary as well as supported the student essay competition held in 2023-2024 and the awards recognition ceremony for outstanding feminist leadership
