Completion of the joint deconstruction/reuse and construction/recycling project between nre and tectonica construction management resulted in data and best practices not previously offered to the construction field. In order to provide a wider context for education nre is completing a best practices document for the larger industry of construction demolition and renovation. This is in addition to the best practices and business case developed for deconstruction. The second report will also be distributed as an educational tool to the industry sector and also to educational organizations such as coast waste management association. Ongoing stakeholder involvement and input into development of regulations with environment and climate change canada continues. As nre roots prioritize pollution prevention plastics regulation and the role of rethink and reduce are being presented to government with data about the role of recycling and epr for successful waste prevention. Nre continues to offer expertise in development of standards and definitions to ensure policy follows research. Ongoing research and support for local single-use plastic and food plastic regulations continues as regulations are developed and refined. Nre volunteer commitments continue with local government solid waste monitoring committee zero waste canada and zero waste bc committees and local government liaison. As plastic production and pollution continue to challenge the environment nre has adopted a new priority for education about prevetntion of plastic pollution for the community. Nres is in the process of revising our website and facebook page with updated research and education about plastic in order to educate the public. Nre has developed new educational tools such as an updated pollution prevention hierarchy with clear steps and instructions for use.
