About Metchosin Seniors' Association
The staff and volunteers of Metchosin Seniors' Association's Seniors’ Resource Centre (MSA/SRC) offer drives for medical needs groceries etc. through the United Way BC Better at Home program to assist older adults to continue to live independently. We offer friendly visits phone calls peer listening social events help with computers and other devices and assistance to find help with tasks like housekeeping or gardening. MSA/SRC provides services such as free hearing tests and it holds a weekly tea for our most vulnerable seniors and assists with a monthly social event. We hold twice-monthly talks on topics like fraud prevention sleep health elder abuse and FireSmart. We work closely with the Metchosin Fire Department regarding our most vulnerable seniors and along with the Fire Department and a local pharmacy we host an annual flu and COVID shot clinic. In 2024 MSA/SRC had 373 members and 15 volunteers gave over 300 hours of their time driving 2 800 kms. Soup lunches where soup is made served and packaged to take home. Planning stages for twice-monthly bus trips to a local mall for shopping and socializing.
