Mercy Tech Mission

A mercy tech team of 4 traveled to project canaan in eswatini for a 3-week period in january/frebruary to assist in the skills training programs; the focus was on mechanics training heavy equipment operation and bicycle repair. Our long-term volunteer couple hosted the team in the newly constructed guest house and directed the automotive program with the view of offering formal automotive training in 2025 to new students from all over eswatini. A mercy tech volunteer travelled to eswatini for the month of may & june to continue the welding and fabrication training courses at that location. In september the mercy tech mission director travelled again to the eswatini location to oversee the interviewing and hiring of the new headmaster/instrutor for the lusito training institute. Additional generalized training in mechanics took place as well and progress was made in the finalization of the automotive training curriculum for the upcoming opening of the formal training program in janurary 2025. Steps were initiated to begin promoting the training institute to prospective students and planning meetings were conducted with project canaan staff to adress items such as on-site student housing tuition fees the student application processes safety equipment and other relevant matters. Going forward the newly completed lusito training institute at project canaan will now be operated and staffed by project canaan employees with mercy tech mission fulfilling the role of sending volunteers as guest instructors to assist in the automotive training program as needed.
