1. To establish and promote a qualification in medicine known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada 2. To maintain a register known as the Canadian Medical Register on which the particulars of physicians who have fulfilled the requirements for the Licentiate shall be recorded 3. To maintain an Examination Board 4. To cooperate and liaise with competent national and international authorities in the evaluation of undergraduate and graduate students and programs in medicine and in specific health sciences and in the re-evaluation of medical practitioners 5. To initiate and promote research and development in the evaluation of medical knowledge and competence of undergraduate and graduate medical students and practitioners of medicine and of other health sciences 6. To initiate maintain and promote a National Physician Registry in cooperation with agencies in Canada and other countries responsible for the evaluation of medical education and for licensing of medical students and practitioners
