Salama shield foundation (ssf) provides 'health and development' programming for resource-compromised villages in malawi and uganda. Ssf’s programs include: micro-credit revolving loans; safe water sanitation and hygiene (wash); permaculture training and support (addressing food insecurity); and psycho-social support for mental health and gender-based violence (gbv) concerns. In canada (ontario) ssf continues to partner with sovereign core (durham) to ameliorate the mental health concerns of black ethnocultural communities. In uganda we are now partnering with a community-based organization called friends of sicklers foundation to address gbv. Women with sickle-cell diseased children (scd) are frequently abused by the fathers of these children. In malawi ssf is now supporting a 2nd group of rural women with our suite of programs (see above) no totalling 42 women supported in malawi. Ssf is committed to evidence-driven interventions where best processes inform or primary health care (phc) programs. As such in 2023 in kenya we intentionally partnered with the african medical research foundation international university (amiu) and initiated the establishment of the centre of excellence in primary health care: an exemplary ngo-academy collaboration. Our uniqueness derives from our bridging technical phc knowledge with ethics further actualizing authentic development through participatory action-research (par). We engage moral entrepreneurs in social of enhancing enabling and empowering vulnerable communities to strengthen the moral bonds integral to a flourishing life in community. With this unique approach african communities are revitalized and sustained.
