Mackenzie and District Museum Society

1. We are open year round (five days/week) for visitors school gorups tours and researchers of our local history. 2.we encourage visitation by advertising photos from our collection on our facebook page and various contests. 3. We participate in our local trade fair and our local hudson's bay post where we promote the museum and our membership benefits. 4. The curator participates in the regional district of fraser-fort george cultural program - the northern routes experience. 5. We had a total of 783 hours of volunteer work from our members in 2024 in helping with the operation of the museum 1. We continue to upgrade our website to allow more interactions with our visitors by having story lines with pictures and feedback forms in each. As more and more artifacts/archival documents are digitized they will be made available through the website. 2. As we have had to move our previous location was deemed unsuitable for occupation by the owner we have moved to a smaller location. This has forced us to reevaluate our methods of displays. We are having more electronic/interactive showcases of our collection. 3. As we have a more active board of trustees we are now producing three month rotating exhibits to attract more local visitors. We are applying for grants to fund these exhibits from local business. 4. We are expanding our gift store so as to rely less on government grants for day to day operations. Young canada works and canada summer jobs grants are invaluable in us being able to hire summer students (local high school) to gain work experience at the museum. 5. We are actively seeking volunteers to grow our programs and bring in fresh ideas.
