About Lutheran Church-Canada the Alberta-British Columbia District
The charity currently exists to meet discovery obligations pertaining to a lawsuit filed against it in june 2015. The charity settled out of court but must provide access to files and other evidence to the legal counsel of the non-settling defendants. There is a mandate passed as a resolution at the convention held in june 2022 to shut the charity down once the lawsuit has been resolved by those still engaged in it. When the lawsuit is settled between the plaintiffs and the non-settling defendants the charity will have to present a bill to the alberta legislature to be formally shut down because it was originally established in alberta by an act of the alberta legislature. In the meantime the charity has distributed cash assets to listed service organizations of lutheran church canada when directed by the estates of the source of the funds. We plan to distribute cash as directed by convention resolution to support a reconciliation process among the congregations of the abc district.
