Lua Shayenne Dance Company

Presents dance works that explore current subject matters with the aim to be a catalyst of social change and spiritual progress. Choreographer and founder lua shayenne draws on the aesthetics and values of west african dance and culture and creates dance pieces that seek to upset and challenge multiple conventions and stereotypes. Yensa festival 2024 is a bi-annual festival that celebrates and supports black female choreographers. The festival offers dance presentations workshops and panel discussions. This festival launched in 2022 and is scheduled to continue every other year. There will also be additional yensa programming throughout the year integrated into the company's annual activities.
