LMBCS is a registered non-profit charitable organization promoting cultural heritage of Bengali Community in Lower Mainland Area of BC through various socio-cultural activities and events since 1977. LMBCS is proud to be a part of Canada's multicultural society. LMBCS strives to foster and carry forward Bengali traditions and values and amalgamate Bengali culture with other diverse cultures in the lower mainland area. Some of the events the society conducts are i) Oikotan - Cultural program celebrating the poets of Bengal (May-June) ii) Picnic (July-August) iii) Sharadotsav – The autumn festival (September-October) iv) Bijoya Sammelan (October-November) v) Basanta Utsav – The spring festival (January-February) vi) AGM (April) As LMBCS continues to grow its commitment towards servicing seniors of the community has grown in importance. Through 'engaged senior’s events' LMBCS is focusing more on their social and cultural needs along with physical and mental wellbeing of Seniors. In summary LMBCS helps the younger generation growing up here get connected to their Bengali roots and the older generation to preserve the culture and relive the traditional festivities.
