Living Spirit United Church Drayton Valley

Living Spirit United Church is a religious organization whose primary focus of programming is the furtherance of religion through worship study fellowship and the promotion of social justice. Ongoing programs include: * Gathering for worship weekly; * Participating in book studies (Advent Lent miscellaneous); * Pastoral care: workshops visitation cards phone calls memorials creation of and distribution of prayer shawls; offering worship services and communion in seniors' residence; *Community outreach: collecting donations of goods and money for our back to school supplies program World Day of Prayer participation with other denominations sponsoring Blanket Exercises; support of two community pantries; work with our local Homelessness & Poverty Coalition; contributions to our local Food Bank * Social justice activities: working toward the goals of Truth and Reconciliation with the Indigenous people of Canada Being Good Relations Network Leadership Group Blanket Exercises; Public Intentional & Explicit work toward becoming an Affirming community of faith; promotion of Fair Trade as a way to bring justice in developing countries; participation in a multi-partner refugee settlement group; ongoing commitment of funds to Mission & Service partners of the wider church such as Bissell Centre and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank as well as support for people affected by natural disaster war & famine around the world. We have established partnerships with local Indigenous leaders in order to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls & have initiated local events for Red Dress Day and the Moosehide Campaign.
