About Les Amis de Lac-Tremblant-Nord
Our mission is to acquire ecologically important properties in the Lac Tremblant Region for their perpetual conservation. Les Amis de Lac-Tremblant-Nord is a registered charity that operates under the brand name Conservation Éco-corridor Tremblant. We work with other like-minded organizations to achieve the conservation in perpetuity of wilderness properties in the Laurentian-Oka eco-corridor. Conservation: For several centuries the Lac Tremblant Region was part of the Weskarini Anishinaabe hunting and fishing territory of Joseph Commandant and his famly. They lived on the shores of the Cachée River near its confluence with Lac Tremblant. They also had a hunting camp on the sandy point on Commandant Isle (now Cedar Island). The Commandant's left Lac Tremblant at the turn of the 20th century. Conservation Éco-corridor Tremblant aspires to conserve in perpetuity the forested mountains rivers and lakes of the Weskarini wilderness in the Lac Tremblant Region. Éco-corridor: The territory between Lac Tremblant and the Rouge River constitutes the northern zone of the eco-corridor extending from Mont-Tremblant National Park to Oka on the Lake of Two Mountains. No other organization is dedicated to the protection of this zone within this important eco-corridor. Tremblant: The Lac Tremblant Region includes the municipalities of Labelle La Conception Lac-Tremblant-Nord and Mont-Tremblant. The wilderness within these municipalities is worth ?conserving - in perpetuity.
