About Leading Word Education
Leading word educates children in grades one to twelve by offering the following programs: after-school curriculum courses remedial tutoring book clubs writing contests writing tournaments and a writers' group.curriculum courses: these courses are for students with above- average literacy skills those who may not be adequately challenged in their daytime schools and are therefore unlikely to reach their full potential without proper nurturing and guidance. Classes follow lesson plans- key aspects of vocabulary grammar writing and reading beyond the ontario curriculum. The student-to-teacher ratio for these classes never exceeds 6:1. Homework help tutoring: our remedial literacy program homework help tutoring fbelow-average literacy skills support especially those who may be neglected in their daytime schools. This program is after-school 1:1 tutoring for reading or writing. Book circle: this program is for children in grades three to ten who enjoy reading and wish to share in their enjoyment with others. Along with reading and discussing a book together the book club's teacher identifies deficiencies in the student'scomprehension and addresses those deficiencies with short in-class activities. Contests + tournaments: open to the public as a fundraiser and for the community awareness about lwe. Biannual magazine - internal publication of students work to introduce the process of submission and publications.
