Kitmat marine rescue society (kmrs) provides financial logistical and administrative support for the royal canadian marine search and rescue station 63 kitmat similar to other rcm-sar support societies in british columbia. It is directly tied to kitmat station 62 which provides 24/7 year round local marine search and rescue sevice assists in marine medical evacuations assists in managing environmental incidents operates and maintain search and rescue vessels and a fully equipped boathouse station conducts restricted radio operators certification courses trains members in first aid marine search and rescue vessel operation marine radio operation provides safety coverage for marine events makes available free safe boating education and literature to the public and free loaner pfd's for children.
