The crisis nursery program supports a caregiver who is isolated lack natural support and struggle with problems that require temporary care for their children. The children (newborn to ten years of age) are provided with twenty-four-hour care for up to three days by trained and skilled child care providers and while they are in our care we attend to every facet of a child’s safety and wellbeing. We provide both physical protection and the emotional security needed in what is often a stressful time in the lives of these young children and their caregivers. The crisis nursery program also provides care for children refereed through the following ways; northern alberta children’s intervention services children’s services placement coordination unit and crisis response team for recently apprehended children. These children may stay longer than seventy-two hours as they await to transfer or kinship care placement. Follow up program support is scheduled with the caregivers for at least one follow-up contact after discharge in the family’s home. If needed for further support a follow up worker will engage caregivers in additional home-based support to work on goals that will reduce risk factor and improve the families functioning and wellbeing. Involvement the with the caregivers will be completed when the service’s goal have been achieved
