Joe Ink’s mandate is to create original and innovative performance works for public presentation and to raise the profile of dance in the Canadian cultural mosaic. The company’s mission is to inspire empower and motivate all people through the medium of dance. The goal is to push the edge creatively and artistically and to fulfill our potential as professional artists while strengthening community through dance. Artistic excellence and generosity of spirit permeate all our activities. Move It! is the company’s pioneering community dance program established in 2001. Move It! teaches the basics of several dance styles and facilitates movement exercises that stimulate dance improvisation. The playful interaction and exploration of the body’s impulse to move inspires the imagination and supports collective creative expression. In additional to the multi-generational workshops Joe Ink has adapted the Move It! format for specific populations.
