Our plans include the following activities: repairing restoration projects along cusheon lake foreshore and a restoration site along fulford creek. Raising nursery stock wetland plants for new planting at these sites. Working with other agencies to control invasive plants along ganges creek and centennial park. Mentoring youth to help in the operation of the hatchery. Conducting streamkeeper assessments along several fish bearing streams. Producing maps of the fish bearing streams to identify all of the areas where we have done restoration projects and to educate the public about the protection of these areas in the future. Producing plans and obtaining permits for cresting summer water storage in several fish bearing watersheds. Raising salmon at the fish hatchery on cusheon creek. Releasing fry at several places on fulford and cusheon creeks. Monitoring salmon returns at cusheon fulford and duck creeks. Providing employment for disadvantaged people. Year round stream and flow rate monitoring beaver dam maintenance on several fish bearing streams. Working with fisheries to monitor marine areas monthly april-september for the invasive green crab. Conducting educational tours for the public and school children. Monitoring covenant areas along streams and natural areas. Conducting environmental assessment and mapping of protected areas with gps. Control of invasive plant species at several sites on salt spring island.
