Children in crisis fund: supports children whose lives have been disrupted through war civil disorder or natural disaster through bibliotherapy and the creation or replacement of collections of selected situation-appropriate books. Elizabeth mrazik-cleaver canadian picture book award: conferred to a canadian illustrator whose illustrations for a picture book published within the prior year (in its original language of publication) is deemed outstanding. Frances e. Russell grant: supports research for a book or an academic paper on canadian children's literature. Joanne fitzgerald illustrator in residence program: provides emerging published illustrators the opportunity to participate in a residency hosted by a public library running book illustration-focused workshops and programming for children teens and adults. Reading with newcomer children program (formerly 'readers and refugees'): volunteers read with newcomer children in shelters and short-term immigrant housing weekly in person or over online platforms over several sessions throughout the year. Indigenous picture book collection: curated list of 125 picture books by first nations métis and inuit authors and illustrators promoted as resource for parents teachers and librarians in canada and shared with other ibby national sections. Indigenous children's libraries project: donations of books from the indigenous picture book collection to indigenous community libraries in canada. Planning to host the 40th ibby wortd congress in ottawa 6-9 august 2026; an international gathering that brings together ibby members and other people involved in children's books and reading development from around the world.
