About Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria
ICA’s journey began in the 1970's by joining in anti-racism efforts in our community. Today we continue that important work by offering wide ranging services that help newcomers access housing healthcare and employment as well as English language instruction and mentorship. Alongside our direct services to newcomers ICA helps Greater Victoria be a more welcoming place by providing anti-racism programming and community education. We help immigrants form community bonds and deep friendships that reduce isolation and foster positive connections. Serving approximately 3 000 newcomers annually ICA’s work now ranges from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses that lead to job creation to supporting vulnerable newcomers by helping them increase their skills and confidence to become healthy contributing members of our community. ICA offers services for newcomers including settlement and integration counseling translation and interpretation English classes mentoring volunteer matching and peer support. We also provide outreach and education in the community through arts programming workshops on anti-racism multiculturalism diversity awareness immigration and human rights and specialized employment programs for immigrants. ICA is a Refugee Assistance Program service provider (IRCC) and a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (IRCC).
