About House of Compassion of Toronto
House of compassion is a not-for-profit charitable organization that offers a permanent affordable and supportive home to 21 men and women with severe and persistent mental illness. Our goal is simple. We walk the journey with each resident so that tthey can live in the community feeling safe respected and encouraged. We own three row houses on shaw street that have been redeveloped into a congregate living setting. Each resident has their own room and shares the rest of the amenities in the house. The support we provide to residents honours a recovery model and depends upon individual needs. House of compassion assists residents with activities of daily living including medication support meal planning and preparation development of social support networks crisis management and informal counseling. Staff also provide advocacy outreach and collaboration with large range of partner organizations to engage residents in the larger community.
