About Home at Last Rescue
Working with various animal service agencies we take cats/kittens that are not suitable for a shelter environment. These can be pregnant cats orphan kittens sick etc. We also assist other rescues in trapping cats/kittens and assess them to determine if they are suitable for a foster home or if they will be in the Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program. A large portion of the animals in our care also come from owner surrenders and general calls from the public to assist with found or abandoned cats/kittens. We manage all of this with the hard work and dedication of our team of volunteers. Currently we have approximately 250 volunteers who spend anywhere from 2-30 hours per week depending on their role caring for the cats and kittens in our care. They may be store volunteers fosters drivers etc. Volunteers will care for cats in their homes the adoption centre driving cats to vet appointments transporting cats from animal services or owner surrenders to vets or foster homes collecting donations of food and/or litter and soliciting donations from the public for our fundraising initiatives. Volunteers help at all of our adoption or meet & greet events. In addition to our social media presence we rely on these events to raise awareness to who we are and what we do solicit donations and advertise our need for volunteers. Rescue in an ongoing endeavour. It’s a 24/7 365 days a year commitment. New programs would include new fundraising initiatives such as pub nights garage sales etc. All of which take hours of commitment time from our volunteers. We were approved for our AGCO Lottery License in 2023 which allows us to be able to hold 50/50 draws bingo nights etc. as other ways to raise additional funds. We held 2 50/50 raffles in 2024. We also participated again in the Scotiabank Marathon Fall of 2024 to raise money for our cats and kittens. We also applied for our second grant in the hopes that we are approved to be able to provide additional funds as we
