The Heritage Community Association (HCA) is the organization responsible for representing the residents businesses and service organizations of the Heritage neighbourhood. Located in the Mitakuyé Owâs’ā Centre at 1770 Halifax St (former Municipal Justice Building) HCA offers a range of programs and services that focus on community engagement children and youth and arts and culture. We offer many different types of food security programming. This includes our Free Mini Pantries Community Gardens Cooking Classes for adults Healthy Eaters Nutrition classes for youth and children Meal Kit Deliveries for families and individuals. Let’s Move is a weekly after-school program that provides opportunities for fun physical activity to youth ages 9 to 14. With a focus on play this program supports young people in improving their physical fitness building their self-confidence and developing healthy relationships. Art Park and Community Garden a relaxing oasis and garden to help with food security and provide education to residents. Snow Angels provides seniors and those will disabilities help with shoveling their property. Harvest Moon Festival features artists performers businesses together cultivating strong relationships between them and community members. The community association also offers workshops and advocacy. Heritage Heirlooms offers many opportunities for seniors in the neighbourhood to socialize learn new things and become active. Heritage Path offers land-based programming and Elder-led workshops for our Indigenous community.
