Harriston Historical Society

The promotion of public interest in the history of harriston and the surrounding area. We maintain historical records do historical research collecting and displaying artifacts and memorabilia. The hhs is joining forces with other organizations within the town to bring public awareness of our history: eg: with the local royal canadian legion to bring in a remembrance day speaker and with the local theater guild history at our annual general meeting. Doing this attracts a different segment of people both in attendance and membership. We have had quite an influx of newcomers that know nothing aobut our history and we are trying to figure how we can reach out to them to get them involved. A plan is being put into place to award a bursary to a student studying history at university.
