About H.E.A.R. Worldwide
Our various volunteers have been active with the following ongoing programs: Receiving and examining used hearing aids for possible refurbishment. Application program for the fitting of refurbished hearing aids via partner audiology clinics. Partnership with Association des Personnes avec Deficience de l'Audition (APDA) in Quebec to continue a program for repurposing and recycling program of hearing aids in the province of Quebec. Individuals with hearing loss with low income can request the fitting of a repurposed hearing aid on their website: https://www.apda.ca/d-une-oreille-%C3%A0-l-autre. A continued partnership with Universite Laval in Quebec City where students at the master's level continue their research on the imporance and feasibility of recycling and repurposing programs for hearing aids. Students in the hearing instuements studies programs at College Rosemont and College de l'Apocatiere continue to volunteer in testing and triaging hearing aids donated to Hear Worldwide from the public. In the last 3 months we have been active in recruiting local hearing clinics outside of Quebec to act as independent points of service. Member clinics are required to volunteer their time and resources to program and fit hearing aids to a pre-determined number of suitable applicants. We are currenlty piloting the project with Glengarry Hearing Centre in Alexandria Ontario and hope to use results to scale the program to other clinics in Ontario. In the coming months we will resume fundraising activities to hire a part-time administrator to scale our current programs in other areas of Canada.
