Grimsby Historical Society

The grimsby historical society's purpose is to preserve promote and share the history and stories of grimsby through the archives speaker series newsletters publications social media community outreach and website with researchers and the community. The ghs volunteers focus on managing and growing the collection of documents photographs maps and special collections to enhance the overall collection. The speaker series engages members and the community by hosting8 annual sessions featuring speakers presenting topics of local historical interest. Archive volunteers post historical stories and photographs on facebook and instagram weekly to create awareness and interest. In 2024 the ghs published a new book featuring the story and photographs of grimsby park. The archive volunteers created new on-line exhibits in 2024 to celebrate heritage week and archives awareness week - exhibits were shared on social media and the on-line collection via the website. Volunteers also created the 2025 calendar featuring photographs and stories of grimsby beach. The ghs collaborated with the grimsby library by creating a number of displays focused on local history in the library. A new display case was built by volunteers to be housed at the ghs to generate interest in local history - the display case is updated monthly.
