About Golf for the Physically Challenged
Our program runs once a week – Monday 1-2:30pm at Tee Zone Driving Inc. Oakville - up to 12 volunteers set up equipment assist participants getting to the mats and assure safety - Volunteers also instruct participants with warmup exercises swing techniques and proper putting - Volunteers use our golf cart donated by PARAGOLF Ontario to drive participants from the car park to our reserved practice area and back to their transportation at session end - We have a number of events during our season running from May to October. These include a BBQ/Annual meeting and two Golf Days each at a local golf club to play 9 holes - Participants and volunteers give talks to local support groups in order to explain our program - A certified golf training specialist assesses participants abilities and provides instruction particular to that person. This instruction occurs both at Tee Zone during our Monday sessions and also on the golf course during our Golf Days. Our new program is called 'Winter Golf'. This is an indoor session each Monday between 1pm and 3pm at Birdies Golf Burlington and runs from January to March.
