The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation harnesses the power of philanthropy to keep the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital at the forefront of innovative rehabilitative care. Donors to the Glenrose Foundation have successfully funded research medical equipment innovative programs and cutting edge technology for the Glenrose Hospital including: • The Building Trades of Alberta Courage Centre brought new robotics virtual reality a cognitive learning zone and simulation and gaming technologies to the Glenrose Hospital. The CAREN (Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment) is a virtual reality medical treatment system to support both military and civilian patients in healing particularly those suffering from amputations or brain injuries. PTSD research is also being conducted using the CAREN. It is the first CAREN system to be made available for patients in Western Canada. • The Reflection and Renewal Centre brings spirituality into the healthcare journey. It’s a quiet space where patients and their families can go for reflection meditation or prayer. It can accommodate people of all backgrounds and faiths and includes an ablution room meditative literature and Bluetooth speakers for music. • The Glenrose Rehabilitation Research Innovation & Technology (GRRIT) Hub which assists in developing new opportunities for meaningful improvements in the quality of life for people with physical and cognitive impairments. • The I Can Centre is a unique environment which brings adaptive technology into the lives of people with disabilities to help them achieve higher degrees of independence and allows Glenrose-quality care to expand beyond the hospital itself. • The Pediatric Family Room a suite for parents to use while their child is an in-patient at the Glenrose. • The Chadi Centre for Pediatric Rehabilitation features healing spaces for the Glenrose’s littlest patients.
